The Program Committee of the Global Learn Asia Pacific 2010 Global Conference on Learning and Technology, after rigorous peer review, has accepted my submission entitled “Universal Adaptation of Avatar Technology and the Metaverse for Online Learning: A New Approach” for publication and presentation. The conference is scheduled for May 17-20 in Penang, Malaysia.

Together with several of my colleagues at Purdue University Calumet, our presentation proposal entitled “Second Life as an Experiential Learning Opportunity” for the Computers and Writing 2010 (”Virtual Worlds”) has been accepted for the program. The onsite conference runs May 20-23, 2010, at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Today I presented a new paper entitled “Utilization of Avatar Technology within Virtualized Learning Environments” at the Second Annual Distance Education Conference at Youngstown State University.

Today my colleagues and I received official notice that our paper entitled “Construction of a Web Based Tutorial for 3D Visualization of Ternary Phase Diagrams” accepted for inclusion in the proceedings for the 2009 AISTech National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri will also be published in the October issue of AIST Iron and Steel Technology. Many thanks to the editors and my colleagues mentioned below for their wonderful support, work and recognition.
Notes on the Metaverse is my personal journal/blog relating to my research in social and educational applications of Metaverse technology. The intended scope for the blog is limited to topics and issues that relate to educational research and applications within the disciplines of applied computer graphics technology and new media. Postings for the blog will not include political, societal, personal issues/opinions, or generic topics (e.g. current events) unless it directly or indirectly relates to the scope. The purpose is to disseminate and share my work and ideals with the global communities for whom my research can provide a contribution.
